Just the engine so that Ren'Py-made games will run on an iPod (i.e. like a virtual machine)? A wrapper, so that a finished Ren'Py product can be converted into an iPhone runnable app? Some other incarnation?

Which leads more into to my specific interests:
What does this project, if and when completed, mean for someone wanting to port a game already made in Ren'Py, to the iPhone/iPod touch?

Lastly, will you be developing this for the iPhone 3.0 firmware, or the 2.2.1? I ask this because most of the people I know who own an iPhone in fact own a 1Gen or 2Gen iPod Touch, who like me having paid $10 for the 2.2 update are less-than-inclined to give Apple another $10 for an update which includes features that should have been included out-of-the-box.

Signed,
SimpleDvorak; intrigued game developer / CompSci undergrad.

P.S. Visual Novels are indeed an awesome time-waster. [geek] I have clocked just over two weeks (that's 24hx14d) of total play-time on Fate/Stay Night. This isn't a workflow for embedding captions into MP4s, it's a workflow for streaming educational videos on Flash Media Server with Longtail Player (which supports .srt closed captions).

If you're thinking of making MP4s with hardsubs from .srt files, I'd probably use XviD4PSP -- but I think the end result would be same as telling DVDFab to use the default subtitles.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02150440477151727947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5402559.post-91736941978643344242009-04-21T21:40:00.000-07:002009-04-21T21:40:00.000-07:00Can you elaborate a little more on the steps in dv...Can you elaborate a little more on the steps in dvdfab?
When I run DVDFAB, it doessn't quite give you the option to rip to MP4, unless you choose a profile. DVD > ? and what should the settings be.
Secondly, how does one rip it the second time? I don't see an option to rip an MP4 to an Mpeg using this software.
If you would care to email me with more elaborate instructions, I would be more than greatful.
My wife is very hard of hearing, and prefers CC instead of subs, so I am on a quest to try and figure out how I can accomplish this task for her.camel700https://www.blogger.com/profile/01356660148951424448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5402559.post-16254004259995293272008-10-01T11:07:00.000-07:002008-10-01T11:07:00.000-07:00Offhand, how did you find my blog?Offhand, how did you find my blog?Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02150440477151727947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5402559.post-61438017126152756022008-10-01T09:15:00.000-07:002008-10-01T09:15:00.000-07:00Well said. TruBlue (Classic) eats more processor time than nearly anything else, Firefox and Final Cut included. I'm guessing Pentiums can handle the strain of running OS X, but not two simultaneous OSes with one in CPU emulation.

The bigger ramification here is the assload of educational games which are no longer published and were never ported to OS X. Longterm, I think Apple's going to have to answer for continued Classic compatibility one way or another.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03045708579246933314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5402559.post-1122921871971533562005-08-01T11:44:00.000-07:002005-08-01T11:44:00.000-07:00As it happens, a Miglia tech explained that H.264 ...As it happens, a Miglia tech explained that H.264 is an excellent codec but processor intensive enough to make it unsuitable for capture on their equipment. Considering the fact that it takes a dual G5 three hours to H.264-compress a 20 minute cartoon at Medium compression, I shouldn't be surprised.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03045708579246933314noreply@blogger.com
